Is it just me, or is the Universe as a whole trying to drive me bonkers?

Sometimes I want to open up my mind, strain out all the little clingy bits that are stuck to the sides, and throw all of them in the trash.

Am I the only one?

Or something like it anyway.

I may or not have mentioned my car previously - it belonged to my grandmother, and before she passed, she gave it to me.

It needs work. A lot of work. I have a long-ass list of things here beside me, but suffice it to say that the most current - and immediate - thing was getting a new rim and a new tire. The car was sitting for so long that the tires are all dry-rotting and one of them gave way when my brother RJ was going to drive it one night.

We'll get to him in a moment, though.

Today I ran all around the state in order to buy a new rim [to replace the decrepit donut spare] and at least one tire to put on the thing. Well. The original plan was to buy the rim and a couple of used tires. Got the rim with no issues, but finding a used 14" tire was a bit harder - nobody seems to have any. I finally ended up getting a new tire at the small cost of an internal organ and that will be going on in place of the donut that is currently on the car. The donut is going to get tossed because it's rusting away and it too has some major dry-rot.

Now, as far as RJ - it seems he has this idea in his head that since I asked him to see about doing some work on the car, since he's in school to be a mechanic, that it means he can drive it all over the state whenever he wants to. The night after the tire blew out on him, he put the donut on and went gallivanting off to a friend's house despite being told not to by my mother who knew that the donut was in such bad shape, and I have told him repeatedly in the past that that car is not meant for joyrides. Going back and forth to school to work on it or for class is one thing. Driving it around everywhere to visit his friends at two am is not included in this.

I confiscated the key from him. I still have it, and since this is the second time he's pulled this shit, he's not getting it back.

He made a rude noise at me about the key just a few minutes ago when I asked him if he would change the tire. I asked him if he was going to not drive it all around the state and he then snarked "When you start driving that car, maybe."

I know I haven't driven in something like five years. I would much rather have a safe car to drive in when I'm ready to practice and NOT a deathtrap. If he wants to be an asshole about it, fine. I can read the owner's manual just fine, and I know how to use a jack - I'll teach myself how to change a goddamn tire. Won't hurt my feelings at all.

Would be nice if I didn't have to be reminded that I come from a family of assholes though. :|

Right. So. My review on the new Sailor Moon and Sailor V manga.

First off, these aren't thin volumes. Sailor V already is halfway through the story, for example, the first seven chapters are covered. Sailor Moon lets off at the end of Act 6, where Usagi discovers Tuxedo Mask's identity. And they're PRETTY. They're basically the cleaned-up version of the Japanese re-release, titled "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon" [and no, not the live action version either XD] The insides have the beautiful color pages and additional internal art.

Secondly: the translation appears to be quite solid. Kodansha went all-out by keeping honorifics, currency, and the original sound effects. No disrespect to some of the fan translations out there, but you can clearly tell that they were done BY fans. There is a difference between a translation with little to no copy-editing and a translation that was done professionally - namely in spelling and grammar. Aside from a few minor glitches with the honorifics ["princess-sama" in Sailor Moon and "prince-sama" in Sailor V] I can honestly say I can spot no issues in the text. Also, for those who aren't as up to date on Japanese culture, there's a handy little glossary in the back from Kodansha explaining a few of the easy-to-miss notes.
I am just so thrilled you have no idea. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Sailor Moon AND Sailor V!

A real update has been long overdue, so here goes.

To be perfectly honest, there's not much new going on here. I work, come home, eat, sleep, and repeat. It's mindnumbing at best and I don't have much motivation to do anything outside of work. I need a vacation - and have one scheduled in October - but that's still two months to go. I'm reasonably sure I can manage not to strangle anyone until then, but some days it's hard to deal with the drama and the customers.

For those few who don't already know - I have a cat. Her name's Emi, she's four, black and white and very affectionate. As in, headbutting anything she can reach, which means sometimes she smashes her head into my rear end - and she headbutts hard, too. I'll see about posting a picture sometime if I can get her to sit still for one.

Family drama continues as usual. The aunt I don't talk to anymore for a myriad of reasons has all but lost it after my grandmother passed [has it really been almost a year?] and while she and I have a number of philosophical differences, I really don't think she should have to put up with her so-called husband or his illegal immigrant daughter and her children who are also in that house. The aunt's health is not the best in the world, and losing the dead weight would help her out greatly. Now, there is a very slim chance I may be going up there with my mother in the near future to try to finish settling my grandmother's affairs, but I think I can ignore the aunt and the other two for that long. I can try, at least.

Other than that - I guess that's all.
